FAQ

Before purchasing a vehicle, always verify it's not stolen: 1) Get the chassis number and license plate from the seller, 2) Use our search feature to check if the vehicle is in our stolen vehicle database, 3) Search by both chassis number and license plate to be thorough, 4) If the vehicle appears in our database, DO NOT purchase it and contact law enforcement. This verification helps prevent buying stolen vehicles and supports recovery efforts.

Basic features are free for all users: reporting stolen vehicles, searching the database, browsing listings, and reporting matches. Premium features (instant email and SMS alerts, advanced watchlist management) are available through subscription plans. Check our "Pricing Plan" page for details on premium features and subscription options.

Stolen vehicle reports are visible to all registered users and visitors of the platform. This public visibility helps maximize the chances of recovery by allowing the entire community to search and identify stolen vehicles. Your personal contact information (email, phone) is kept private unless you choose to share it. Only the vehicle information, theft details, and reward information (if provided) are displayed publicly.

Yes! When reporting a stolen vehicle, you can specify if you're offering a reward and the amount. This information will be displayed on your listing and may encourage community members to assist in recovery efforts. Rewards are handled directly between the vehicle owner and the person providing information - the platform facilitates the connection but does not handle reward payments.

Premium alerts notify you immediately when: 1) A vehicle matching your watchlist criteria is reported as stolen, 2) Someone reports a match for a vehicle you've listed, 3) A vehicle matching your search criteria appears in the database. Premium subscribers receive instant email and SMS notifications. You can set up watchlists based on chassis number, license plate, brand, city, or year. This feature is available through our subscription plans.

No, Stolen Motor JA is operated by Bytora Limited and is completely independent of law enforcement agencies. We are a community service platform. Always contact the police directly for emergencies or crimes in progress.

If you believe you've spotted a stolen vehicle, DO NOT approach the vehicle or occupants. Your safety is paramount. Instead: 1) Report the match through our platform by clicking "Report Match" on the vehicle listing, 2) Provide the exact location, date, time, and any photos if safe to take from a distance, 3) Contact law enforcement immediately with the information (JCF at 119), 4) Do not attempt to recover the vehicle yourself. Let law enforcement handle the situation.

You can search for stolen vehicles in several ways: 1) Use the search bar on the homepage and enter a chassis number or license plate, 2) Navigate to the dedicated search pages for chassis number or license plate search, 3) Browse all listings on the "Reports" or "Listings" page. The search will show you if a vehicle has been reported as stolen, along with all available details including theft date, location, and photos.

A chassis number (also known as VIN in some countries) is a unique identifier for your vehicle. In Jamaica, it's commonly referred to as the chassis number. You can find it on your vehicle registration documents, insurance papers, or stamped on the vehicle itself (usually on the dashboard visible through the windshield, on the door frame, or on the engine block). The chassis number is essential for identifying stolen vehicles and is the primary search method on our platform.

To report a stolen vehicle, create an account or log in, then click "Report Vehicle" or "Add Car". Fill in all required information including: chassis number (Jamaica standard), license plate number, theft date, theft location, police report number, police station, and any reward offered. Upload photos if available. Once submitted and approved, your report will be visible to the community for assistance in recovery.
